mad decent block party

Some shots I took during Mad Decent Block Party at South Street Seaport
Got back from Mad Decent Block Party at South Street Seaport a few hours ago. Went with some friends from high school to check out some new sounds and dance a lot. We spent most of the day crushed against the front of the crowd, having a good time.

For a free (!) music festival it was pretty incredible, but I didn't really expect much less from such a stacked label; The Hood Internet, Maluca Mala, Zeds Dead, DJ Mehdi, BAIO (Vampire Weekend), and Claude VonStroke killed it. I wish I could go to the Philly, Chicago, and LA shows (particularly Philly and LA for Diplo and Major Lazer), but my schedule's booked solid for the next six weeks.

On another note, I really want that photographer's shirt.

while we can still dream

Another year in review.
Although I don't love the Ithaca winter, I do miss big sweaters, knit scarves, fuzzy boots, and fresh snow.

our deepest desire is luminous mobility

Eklund Stockholm New York
"I simply state that I'm a product of a versatile mind in a restless generation -- with every reason to throw my mind and pen in with the radicals. Even if, deep in my heart, I thought we were all blind atoms in a world as limited as a stroke of a pendulum, I and my sort would struggle against tradition; try, at least, to displace old can'ts with new ones. I've thought I was right about life at various times, but faith is difficult. One thing I know: if living isn't seek for the grail, it may be a damned amusing game." -- F. Scott

drop beats not bombs

Electric Zoo 2010
Over this past year, my friends and I went to almost every music festival imaginable. This year, I feel like I should be a bit more economically conscious so I'm going to Identity Festival in Mansfield on August 20 and Electric Zoo over Labor Day Weekend. I haven't been to a single festival all summer, so I'm itching to get out to a huge open field and dance to great music and love life.

The Mansfield lineup includes Kaskade, Rusko, Avicii, Data Romance, Steve Aoki, and Nervo, while Tiesto, Guetta, Moby, Benassi, Rusko (twice in three weekends, yay), van Buuren, Afreojack, Boys Noize, Skrillex, ATB, Bloody Beetroots, Fake Blood, and Infected Mushroom will be at EZoo. I wish Pretty Lights was also on one of the lineups, but they're both already incredible, so I can't complain too much.

the collectibles

Gorgeous shoes from Penelope and Coco's Collectibles collection
Just discovered Penelope and Coco - Marisa Spinella is a genius. From her website:
On a pursuit to seek the principal spirit behind her style, Marisa Spinella approached her two alter egos. She faultlessly braided these confidants into eccentric characters to bear the journey of Penelope and Coco.
Two vivacious, unique personas intertwined to actualize the life of her own...
Penelope is a dainty, classic, vintage lover. She discovers the beauty in odd belongings, applies red lipstick without a pause and is guided by the old hollywood glamour of miss Rita Hayworth.
Coco is bold, complicated and risqué. Her sexual energy and eccentric mystique has all eyes on her, regardless of location. A woman with no strings attached, Coco connects the two personalities by blending her animated emotions with the delicacy and alluring manner of Miss Penelope .

winter wonderment

Styling Rachel Thevenard and James Newman
As part of a prize package for winning a LOOKBOOK.nu x MTV style contest this past winter, Adilla Menayang of Chicago and I got to style members of the Skins US cast for their premiere party featuring Rusko.

Adilla and I met and spent some time with the cast and their families in the Soho Grand's penthouse suite after pulling clothes, accessories, shoes, etc. from sites all over the city before heading over to the premiere party. Overall, it was an exciting but exhausting experience -- more photos to follow once I get my life in order. Just over two weeks until I fly out to Palm Beach!
